Health and safety

Some hazards that impact on business continuity are addressed in the law. Breaches may result in prosecution of employers or employees and the penalties can be substantial.

The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and Health and Safety in Employment Amendment Act 2002 are concerned with preventing all forms of harm that may arise from work activities.

If you're employing people then you need a Health & Safety Guide. Both employers and employees have rights, obligations and responsibilities. This includes all persons at work and other persons in, or in the vicinity of, a place of work. The law aims to achieve this by:

  • Promoting excellence in health and safety management.

  • Defining hazards.

  • Imposing duties.

  • Requiring employee participation

  • Enforcement.
